Agree the half way with Kid.
A open help forum really is needed.
Pilots can ask question if they run into problems and the moderation is no problem.
Guess every sysop can do that.
Also good to have such forums, because it is a place where you can lookup things if you got a problem in front of asking first like we have it now with support tickets.

However, some other internal forums may good to have like a forum for league and fun event manager.
Staff always changes and it is hard to be informed about everything from the past if you take over the job.
You doesn't know the agreements of league rotation and who can organize the next one. You have no idea if someone else likes to do a fun event at a certain time spot and so on......
Also, with the new job you get some new possibility's like adding events and that stuff. Having a forum would be the right place to inform people about changes or generally how to to certain things.
So far my request get denied and now I have to take every new league or fun event manager by the hand and take him through all the stuff including answering questions with PM.
That doesn't make it easier for me, in fact it ......you know the P word :D

Communities are afraid of losing their independence even if, in the end, it means more efficiency.

The secret of getting something going is just getting started. The secret of getting started is breaking your complex plan into small manageable tasks. and then starting on the first one.

Small steps, Tank, small steps. Or, in other words, softly softly catchee monkey.  Cool

Tank says

So far my request get denied
Ty for your efforts Tank  biggrin
So there are three Admins who have the final say on if something is good for the game

Temper who has agreed
Ghost
Topshrott

If there is not an agreement by the admins that this is a good move it would be nice if they could post and enlighten us to the reasons

Perhaps they could post on the CLP forum so all the aa community could read with out looking around  icon_twisted

Tbar, what forum and community failed?

I will not get dragged into pointing fingers :)  It will open old wounds etc.. not worth it. But one can extrapolate.. it is better just to remember.. but not go there.

Before the CLP came on line I worked with Tank etc. I knew it was coming 6 months early.. and one of the topics was ONE forum. It was my friend Tank at the time that said: no no no no.. no way :)

Times have changed.. things have changed. One must be open minded and consider all.. but look before the leap.

I have no fear of a ONE forum community at all (just who controls it).. but I do wonder how it would be managed and governed :) I would venture to say a ONE community forum would result in the current communities  basically drying up and be of no need or real use.

If .. the ONE forum thing is really just for helping new pilots and retaining pilots.. now that I am 100% for. If that tool was just for asking question about the game or just to help with technical problems.. I'm all for that as well. If that tools was used to steer pilots to communities of their time zone for play where they can find pilots of like mind and geographic brotherhood.. I'm for that also.

What I am not for is the forum for cooking.. the forums for general chit chat or open topics from sex to politics etc. What I am not wanting is the flame fest that have existed in the past "ONE Community Forum for all" .. that drove some of us to never participate again. What I am not for is the few that control the majority. I'm not for a "no voice" situation.

There are reasons the current communities were formed.. I offer warning and consideration to those reasons... and history. If the my concerns and warnings do not apply to this situation.. great and I apologize for my ignorance.

Today's community concepts and the way they have all grown says something that should not be ignored. Look also at the vast brainpower, ideas, and actions that have come from these communities.. that was stifled in the past with a ONE community concept.

Do please be careful :)

I stick with what I said.
One Forum and one community = NO GO

The squad is your family
The community (US/UK/GE/AANZ/) is your country
The game (CLP) is international and world wide

You loose one thing of that the boat starts sinking.

Nobody needs a bad joke forum at the clp level, but a general help forum where new pilots or pilots with a problem in the game or the installation can ask questions would be great.
Maybe someone looks for a squad and doesn't know where to find the right place to look for.

Sure you can ask such question at the community or squad level, but it shouldn't be the only place.

What we doesn't need at the international level are posting, threads or forums for flaming, cooking, chat chat or something else in that category.
TBar is concerned about some things and he is right. The current concept of the community's needs no change.

What we like is a "One Help forum for all" and I think this will be a benefit for the game.
Maybe we get also some forums at the administration level for league and fun event managers so the community's can work better together at the international level. Some other already existing forums showed that this works fine.

TBar, we are careful and "ONE Community Forum for all" is a thing I doesn't like. I'm against that too because chit chat and flaming isn't for the benefit of the game.

Have to agree with Tank and Tbar on that one. The community forums will still be just as lively ---- there wont be the other chit chat on a CLP forum. This will be restricted to certain valuable information only and we can have our our forums for the rest.

It can only benefit the game and its players.

As you can see from the USAAC forum, very little help is asked for here, so where are they all going for help? UK forums? their squad? why not have this helpful info in one place.  Cool

Oh My,

What will happen to Inferno's Marinara sauce recipe? Shall it be lost forever? I better mass email all in air attack the recipe before this valuable information is forever lost!

Good idea to put minimum of help pages and forums etc. on the main page.

Although there is some concern that the whole world will explode in a huge ball of fire, a forum will be added to the CLP. :)

No one will hire a forum manager that uses that many smilies. Those things are expensive! Wink

Wiz, all I did was make a few posts. Thank you for bringing the topic back up. I hope you can return to helping new players too.

We all need to remember that it is Tank that works behind the scenes to make the CLP what it is.

Good news fellas,

I do want a chit chat forum, and maybe a pic gallery to see them ugly pilot mugs, I guess Taco Bell wont be sponsering the recipe forum.

Really, it's a general bs forum that attracts alot of interest, think about it, a flamming Inferno, drag style, lmao....
