If that is true Tbar, why are you allowed to do so?

 frown

Well sometimes Vipor.. one has to do things in order to make sure there are rules against doing so :)   Anyone could have had two or more images in there signature. Now we have the word .. nope :)

Its not a big deal to me, whatever the rules are.. I can comply with. I just didn't know what the rules were at this time.

Kid gave me an adequate answer last week  thumbsup

Quote
He won't b allowed to do so.A correction will be  made by Tbar soon. This was for testing the idea.

But I thank you sir for the clarification and reasoning on your end.

Now I gots to think of what else we need to try to do to see if there are rules in place...

Hmmm idea

Ignorance of the rules is no excuse so the next question is:
What are the penalties for breaking the rules and why werent they applied in this instance   icon_twisted devil

Looks like you have resolved the issue by having that blinking billbard with three different pics. Is that legal? biggrinjester

The pic I dont like is that creepy skeleton thing that the director uses. It scared the daylights out of my youngest daughter when she saw it.

Correct me if I'm wrong but,

Did I read or hear something way back in reference to animated gif. sigs. taking up to much resources?

or

Was that on the UKAA web site?

If they are allowed here I have one that I would like to insert.

So far.. there are no 'real rules' .. so just comply with what is asked for now. If you asked by the Director or the WebMaster to change your sig, please just do so.

This board is very liberal with the image rules. Go to the UKAA site and check the avatar and Siggy rules ... much more restrictive in all areas.

As long as the image is NOT stored on USAAC site, then it really does not use our bandwidth.. so most likely nothing will be said about 'weight' at this time. But.. consider those on dial-up .. its a monster to have to load heavy weighted images ..

@Hawk,
I dont' see a problem with animation, however your image is probably way to heavy in weight. Check the properties of mine and its about 100k where as yours is around 800k. Your image, done by a gfx person can probably be brought down in 'weight' a lot, maybe half?

@Shrapnel

Debate is topic for another thread RE: "Ignorance of the Rules is no excuse.." Who said so? Ask a lawyer .. .  prrr

It was clearly pointed out: There are no gfx rules .. therefor no rule was violated. When I was 'asked' to change it .. I did.  prrr

Yes, Ani siggys are legal (at this time )   prrr

In reference to signatures...

If it is not hosted on our domain (usaac.us) then the bandwidth is not an issue and it doesn't matter what file size the image is, but in respect to others on slower connections, this may take some time to download. Once downloaded then it is stored in their cache and from experience, most people don't clear their cache on a regular basis, so reloading wont' be an issue.

In regard to sizing, 500x500 is the max, but with the new version of this board coming out soon, we have the ability that we currently don't have, to place a restriction on size.

To cut a long story short, 500 is your max width, have your images hosted elsewhere and if you have a slow connection, don't clear your cache if downloading larger files sized images bothers you.

You're not doing it wright. You gotta do it right and then it will be writeable or even writable; take your pick.  biggrin

Log into your Photobucket account.
Locate the thumbnail for the file you want to direct link, and notice the separate linking codes below it. See What linking code formats are provided for information about each type of linking code.

Note: You may have to move your mouse over the media to display the codes.

These same codes are available on the full-size view page in the Share this image panel.

The functionality of images embedded with the HTML Code, HTML Thumb, and IMG Thumb is affected by whether you have selected or deseleted Images Link Back To Album in your account options. See What is the 'Images Link Back To Album' option for details.
Click in the field that contains the code that you want to use. If the Photobucket one-click copy is active, the yellow 'Copied' box displays. If the yellow box does not display, manually copy the code.

Navigate to the place where you want your image to display, such as a forum, message board, email, instant message, etc.
Paste the code into the appropriate field.
