hi all,

Every now and then my joystick (Logitech Extreme 3D Pro) looses its rudder setting in game makes the plane dip toward one side causing it to do a barrel roll unintentionally and continuosly.

This only happens every now and then but its getting to a point where its damn annoying especially trying to fly. I know its not the joystick as I have tested it on another pc and there was no problems.

Anyone have this issue before and if so how did you fix it......is it related to a Windows update?

Fire,

I use the old original MS precision pro and sometimes if i let go of stick it will drift down and to left...

I think it is from wear on the stick itself and nothing to do with settings on pc.

I can actually repair minean and stiffen all springs to get it "tight" again!!

Not sure about your stick tho.

Would you share how you tighten the springs with us ol diehards Vip?

Sure Hawk.

Best to have another friend with you as two set of hands help tremendously when putting the stick back together.

1) be sure to look carefully at how the parts on the inside are placed.

2) when you take it apart, just get said springs out and stretch them for more tension.

3) when putting it back together, it is tricky and hence the reason to have a friend there to help hold and such.

4) I wouldn't try it if you only have 1 joystick as if you mess up, you now have none.

I have about 6 or 7 of these MS PPro left and I actually need to work on a few.

I think 1 is still brand new and never been used. I have one that I use only in league matches as it is tight and very responsive!!

Good Luck Hawk!!

Now that explains how he manages to kill me all the time...  cryin

I have looked at a few posts regarding the same problem and it seems that Logitech are aware of it but refuse to do anything about it because they prefer you replace your stick...so off to the shops to get another I guess...that last one only lasted me a few months at the most.

I too have a new MS Precision Pro and new MS Force Feedback 2 but don't like them in this game...great for Fighter Ace but no good for AA IMO.

Maybe I should get the MS Precision Pro out and try again.....at least I know they last a while.

Thanks for the replies guys

Have you tried hitting ctrl + J in-game?

Thanks Temper for that piece of advice. I have the same stick and the same problem that  Firestorm is talking about.  It seems about 4 or 5 months ago, My stick would take me into a hard right hard or left dive and spin.  So I would leave the game and do a calibration using the games calibration utility.

I just tried the ctrl + j combo you mentioned and it seem to work pretty well.  I don't know what that does but it does help a lot.  I had to continue using the fix you gave several time before it settled down and gave me a level flight path.

I think Madman had mentioned something about this a while ago while I was in a game with him, but I think it was a different key combo. I don't remember because I only saw it for a few seconds and then I lost it forever on the game comms, and I didn't have time to write it down.

By the way I did take this stick apart about a week ago to see if there was a way to tighten it up.  Looks like everything is a press fits and when slop builds in the stick, it's time to live with it, or buy a new one.   The one I have is about 1 1/2 to 2 years old.

Joker, if I were you I would uninstall the stick, then re-install, but do not calibrate in-game. You may need to go into options and check the boxes, but don't run the calibration.

Try that and see how you get along, You will still need to hit ctrl + J, but once a flight session will be all that is necessary.

Microsoft Force Feedback 2..

Everything Else is Just A Toy

 pirate

I wouldnt try to take the microsoft sticks apart.( I tryed this a few times, they are a Royal Pain in the Ask to get back together!) I find it more relaxing to find one on ebay and pay too much for it than trying to fix it when it gets crappy.

Either lazy or have more money than you care to say...hehe.....I did buy several when they first stopped making them for anywhere from $1 to $10 each years ago.

Joking Fern....they are hard to put back, but once you know how, its ok to do and feels good to have repaired a damage stick and saved some money as well!!!

hi guys,

The joystick combo you spoke of that Madman told you was CTRL+J then C. This tells the game to use the joystick and then centers it. I was doing this all the time while flying but it was getting way to hard.

I have now got a new stick and no problems, but I'd like to know why it works fine on one pc but not another.

@ Fern...yes I know its a toy but I like my toys

Well I just had an experience with my FFB2 seams all of a sudden my trigger wasn't working. So I took the stick apart at the handle and looked everything looked fine but I knew it wasn't so I took out the circuit board and played with the micro switch and could get it to fire when I pressed on it but when I put back together no guns. I then took the micro switch apart and tried to pull out the spring all that did was make it fir constantly. I might add don't try this unless you mount spring on a paper clip to keep the stretch out true. This will also work in reverse to straighten out a spring that was pulled without being mounted on paper clip. The next thing was solder connections in playing with micro I found that one connection was loose so I got out my soldering gun and while loosening the micro switch from board I pulled it out a bit so that it would make better contact with trigger and presto it was fixed my baby back to new
