I see all the time that people do the "rank-up" thing so they can get the upgraded planes. Once they get to 29 or 30 on score the new planes become available. Then there are those that keep going with this until they reach the highest rank in the game. My question to them is "Was this challenging to you?" "Did you get a feeling of accomplishment or a sense of cheating?" The rank does not make you the better pilot, earning it does. Although I am guilty of ranking up a little myself,I have only ranked up my two Raven nicks,my Ref nick and my USAAC nick. On the Raven ones I only went to sql,on the other two I only went high enough to stop that stupid yellow writing telling me to turn right, etc. from popping up on my screen during training or REf duties. After that I progressed on my own and all my other nicks I progressed from no kills to the rank they are with no rank-ups. I have nothing against ranking up high enough to get better planes but where should you yourself draw the line?
In every game put out these days there are cheats put out for them also. Why play the game if you have to cheat? I guess this is the modern way for people to play games. My son goes out and buys a game and as soon as he gets home he goes on the internet looking for the cheat codes, lol,I walk away shaking my head. It is not always the younger generation doing this so I can't blame it on the "Entitlement Generation" thing on this one.
I have been playing this game for a long time and remember my first few years as being very difficult to play. I had no rank up options, had a 26.4 kbs connection speed and a 333 mhz processor,so kills were hard to come by. In time I learned how to use these weeknesses to my advantage and began racking up the kills. That was skill acquired from playing the game, nothing else. Now I have a faster pc and connection which in the beginning I had to learn all over again, much different than the previous one. What ever the case may be I get a feeling of accomplishment when I play a game the way it should be played and feel guilty if I don't. Do any of you?
